About Me

Hey ya'll!

My name is Cassidy.
But I’m known as just Cass’ by most.

I'm 26 years old and married to my high school sweetheart—that handsome guy you see below. I know I know… he’s a cutie. And, I’m still smitten 10 years later.

In 2007, Klay and I married just after he joined the Air Force. That same year we were stationed in Alaska—moving off and experiencing our first year of marriage 4000 miles away from our families in Texas.

In 2011 when Klay’s enlistment ended, we decided it'd be best to move back home so we could be closer to family and maybe one day start one of our own (one day meaning several years later).

We wound up with a tiny surprise that July when we found out I was pregnant with our little boy.

Enter adorable kid aka Brody--born February 2012.

On Nov. 14, my life changed forever. I was told while I was 29 weeks pregnant with my second baby that I have Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)--start with my "Pregnant With Cancer" post. I've talked about this journey on the blog (check out my Favorites page to read my "cancer diaries" from the beginning).

Baby Beckham was born 3 lbs 8 oz on Nov. 20, 2014, 10 weeks premature. He's home and doing fabulous. He's a growing, healthy baby boy!

I'm still battling AML and will continue to document my life and all of its twists and turns!

Oh, we have two dogs that we obsess over too. They were our babies before our baby. And yes, I’m that person who takes ridiculous pet pictures.

I’m currently a stay-at-home mama living a life full of toddler tantrums, silly giggles, lots of barking, screaming and time-outs, so I’m pretty much a hot mess all the time.

So why am I blogging?

I fell in love with blogging in 2011. I started my first blog documenting our 17-day road trip from Alaska to Texas (click here pages to read).  It was an incredible experience that changed my life and not only brought my wanderlust to the surface, but it also introduced me to the blogging world.

Then after my son was born a year later, I realized I wanted to blog again; this time choosing parenting and my kid to be the focus. I enjoyed learning about my readers and feeling that sense of kinship when sharing about our parenting experiences.

Both times I stopped for different reasons… things popped up and got in the way, but I’ve come back now to stay! (That rhymed... I'm also a poet and I didn't know it!) <--- That sentence should tell you one important thing--I'm a nerd.

But I’ve realized that this time is very different.

This time, I want to blog for ME.

This is my page to write about whatever comes out of these fingertips. From DIY projects, events/party ideas and food to traveling, crazy stories and everything else that falls between, you name it, I plan to write about it.

So sit back, stay a while and welcome to Life on Cass Lane—it’s not always crazy, but when it is, it will leave you rolling on the floor laughing!
